Juvenile Sex Offender Treatment Program

Carpe Diem Children’s Services’ Sexual Offender Treatment Program is designed to teach specific skills with emphasis on specific relapse prevention strategies to prevent further sexual acting out behaviors in the home, school and community.  In addition, the sexual offender treatment program is necessary to provide a continuum of care as well as focus on specific treatment modalities for the sexual offender population.  Carpe Diem will provide sexual offender treatment services facilitated by a licensed and Certified Sexual Offender Treatment Provider (CSOTP).  The sexual offender therapist will provide weekly sexual offender groups as well as individual counseling sessions and family sessions with emphasis on relapse prevention and other treatment modalities.

A twenty-four week (24) curriculum has been incorporated with home based services to ensure that both the individual and group needs for sexual offender services are addressed.  Each client will attend the sexual offender treatment group once per week for 1.5 hours.   Family therapy will be incorporated to focus on educating family members about offender and victim issues.  A sexual offender assessment will be conducted by the CSOTP placing emphasis on the following: genograms, ecomaps, family life cycles, family strengths, family challenges, summary of family progress, and recommendations.  Other treatment components of the sexual offender treatment program include but are not limited to the following:

  • Anger management
  • Cognitive restructuring
  • Knowledge of what constitutes appropriate social relationships between dating and married partners, including appropriate sexual boundaries
  • Victim awareness and empathy
  • Identification of high risk environments and tools to avoid those environments
  • Family reunification
