Mentoring Program

Children’s Services of Hampton Roads’ Mentor Program is a step down program for clients who have previously received or is currently receiving one of the above services. It provides youth the opportunity to learn from and participate in constructive activities with a caring adult.  Many adolescents experience difficulties during their childhood, which without proper support and guidance, can lead to a pattern of ongoing difficulties.  Children’s Services of Hampton Roads provides caring individuals who are trained in helping youth develop responsibility and overcome the challenges they face.
Many children and adolescents could benefit from a positive role model in their lives.  This role model helps facilitate the child’s ability to cope with life in an effective manner.  Issues addressed include:

  • Developing appropriate peer relationships
  • Teaching responsibility
  • Esteem enhancing recreational activities
  • Social skills building
